Vaxholm is the gateway to the Stockholm archipelago — 40 kilometres east of central Stockholm, sitting on its own small island connected by road bridges. The drive takes about 45 minutes via Route 274 through the wooded suburbs of Värmdö and over the bridge to Rindö and then Vaxön.
