Yes — it is one of the only 18th-century theatres in Europe still working with its original stage machinery. Worth timing your visit to coincide with a summer performance.
The grounds yes; the palace interior has limited winter hours. We can adjust the booking to your visit window.
Yes — most clients who book Drottningholm combine it with a half-day Stockholm tour. Hourly hire is the right format for that.
The car, driver, fuel, tolls, 15 minutes of waiting time. Extended waiting at the palace bills at the hourly rate.
Drottningholm Palace sits 15 kilometres west of central Stockholm on the island of Lovön in Lake Mälaren. It is the official residence of the Swedish royal family and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The drive takes about 25 minutes via Drottningholmsvägen, the historic road that connects Stockholm to the palace.
The headline is the palace itself — a 17th-century Baroque masterpiece often called the “Versailles of Sweden”. The grounds include the unique Court Theatre (one of the few 18th-century theatres still working with its original machinery), the Chinese Pavilion, and the formal Baroque gardens. The summer ferry service from central Stockholm (Stadshuskajen) is the romantic alternative, but the chauffeur option is faster and runs year-round.
Drottningholmsvägen west from Kungsholmen, across the Tranebergsbron bridge, through Bromma, and onto the island via the Nockeby-Drottningholm bridge. The drive is scenic — past the Stockholm City Hall, the leafy Kungsholmen waterfront, and the old villas of Bromma.
Fixed price from €59. Door-to-door from any Stockholm address. Standard waiting time — typical Drottningholm visits run 90 minutes to half a day.
